We gathered on Tuesday night and had an amazing time with the Lord and His Word. It was a night of anticipation for sure for all of us.
Over the years we have all had a variety of interpretations taught to us regarding God's Word. My prayer for this year is that we allow the scriptures to interpret themselves. It is what it is - God speaking to me and to you. I also pray we have discernment. As Matthew 7:15 states "Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves." Vicious because they want you to be distracted and misled. Long for truth so you have an "understanding" of what God is communicating. 2 Tim. 3:16-17 "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." Blessed reading!
One of the questions that arose during the Tuesday night study was "What does the number 40 mean?" Numerous accounts of the number 40 are referenced in the Bible representing testing and followed by God's ushering in a new event or era. Without a doubt, stuff needs to die so that the new thing could be born.
ReplyDeleteDuring this year of the Word, let's identify those things that need to die so God can truly birth something new in our lives.
